Molecular Interactions Research Laboratory

Image

The Molecular Interactions Research Laboratory is committed to educate and train the next generation of scientists and engineers. The laboratory provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in research activities, gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment, and learn from experienced researchers in the field. The laboratory is engaged to promote the use and understanding of surface analytics, reaction calorimetry, and thermodynamics.

Additionally, the laboratory is dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility in its research projects and measurement services, recognizing the importance of minimizing the environmental impact of scientific research and technological development. Overall, the Molecular Interactions Research Laboratory is a vital and dynamic hub of scientific inquiry, collaboration, and innovation within the University of Pannonia and the wider scientific community.

News

We proudly announce that our former Ph.D. student, Anett Kondor, who currently works at Surface Measurement Systems (SMS, London, UK) as a Product Manager & iGC Product Specialist is joining our team as a Scientific Advisor to aid our goals with her expertise.

Heritige

The very laboratory where the Research Group currently operates was once led by Prof. Ervin sz. Kováts, a world-famous researcher in the field of gas chromatography, part of the “Hungarian chromatography mafia”, known for decades of scientific work in the field as well as for the Kovats-index. Our goal is to continue our work following his footsteps, where the laboratory contained one-of-a-kind instruments with the corresponding expertise in order to provide valuable information for the scientific community through high quality research. To read more about the work of the Professor, please visit the website of the HLBS Research Group of the University (LINK), and if you can, visit the University in person, because an exhibition was established in order to represent the scientific work and the obtained awards of the Professor in building “I”, 8th floor.

The laboratory also witnessed the transition from common gas chromatographic applications toward inverse gas chromatography led by Dr. Andras Dallos aiming better understanding of surface energies and processes, mainly targeting the behavior of complex fragrance mixture on clothe materials, such as fabric and cotton. The regular GC instruments were conceptually modified and supplemented in order to provide every accurate measure parameters, what nowadays are given in the available complex measurement systems. One of his Ph.D. student was Anett Kondor, who developed and once work on these instruments now managing an iGC team at SMS.
